Weighted Saturday.

So, it's been a minute since I've checked in with my weight loss progress, so I thought I would update anyone that's curious as to where I'm at.

Last week I hit a pretty big milestone - entering the 140s! I haven't been in the 140s since the Christmas of 2008, in which I promptly returned to the 150s and settled until October 2009 when my parents announced their separation and divorce. This began my past weight gain. If you want more info you can check out my initial blog on losing weight here.

A few things have changed this last month when it comes to my workout plan and what I'm doing to lose weight in a healthy manner, instead of a quick fix "diet".

Firstly, I started using the gym on post. I had thought this wouldn't work for our family, but they offer childcare in the mornings, and would you know working out in the mornings and getting it out of my way really makes my day better? Yeah, go figure. Anyhow, with the fact that they give you free childcare hours while your husband is deployed and also the fact that they offer some pretty good classes, I'm taking advantage of the opportunity. So far, I'm in love with spin class and the instructor. I'm 80% positive that she's German and when she counts, I hear Arnold in my head, "I'm going to pump YOU up!" Yes, I know he's not German, but the accent is relatively close.

I'm going to try out the Zumba class that's offered there as well.

Next up, I changed my diet up for the most part. I switched from eating a diet that was heavily based in processed foods, fast foods, and carbs to that of the Paleo diet. A diet based on natural foods : lean meats, seafood, seasonal vegetables and fruits minus the grains, diary, and processed foods. This came as a shock to my family, as they know I'm never without my staple piece of bread or pasta during most meals. Let's take a moment. Also, I may have overdone it last night on the apple crisp that I made for my girlfriends and I while we watched the royal wedding and drank wine. Damn wine, I always get the munchies when I drink it!

Just a day after switching to paleo, I already felt better. Two days after and I lost that 5 months pregnant bloat I've been carrying around for a while. All in all, I feel great. Go figure removing processed and fast foods from my diet would make me feel this way. But with last night's overdoing it on the apple crisp (hello : buttah! sugar! grains!), I'm definitely feeling it this morning. I feel sluggish and groggy. Lesson learned.

So, for the weigh in!

Last time I weighed :

150.6 lbs on April 3rd

Today's weight, April 30th :

145.6!

That would be a loss of -5.0lbs since my last weigh in, with another 5.6 pounds to go. The final stretch.

I must give credit to acknowledging the beautiful Lauren Rock who introduced me to the Paleo Diet. She's such a motivation and I was blessed to have spent time with her in Tennessee getting to know her a bit. She's a daily inspiration to get up, brush yourself off and go!

Good job! I've heard a lot of people talking about the Paleo diet as of recently, and it obviously works. :) I've thought about trying it, but it makes me nervous because we use bread a lot or some type of pasta, like you said.
