MilSpouse Friday Fill-in #36!

I love these writing prompts from Wife of a Sailor on Fridays. Go check it out and link up fellow military spouses/significant others!

1. What romance movie scene reminds you of your s/o or spouse and the LOVE you share? submitted by Simply Sunshine and Daisy's
To be honest, I don't think I've ever compared my relationship to a scene from a movie but if I had to really think about I would say at approximately the 1:50 mark of this video would be us.

It's our song (Garth Brooks "To Make You Feel My Love") and we dance a lot. My husband isn't an over the top romantic guy nor is he the greatest about expressing how he feels, but he tries and he tries. The one thing that he does to tell me he loves me, that he knows I've had a long/hard day, that he's always here for me and that he's my best friend is by coming to me and asking me to dance. Even with no music playing, we'll dance slowly around in the living room, kitchen, bedroom or even in the middle of my mom's living room during Thanksgiving in front of everyone. For a minute as we sway back and forth and I hold on to him tightly, breathing him in, I seem to forget about everything other than where we are, in that moment - there's nothing better. That's us.

2. If you were allowed to deploy with your husband to a war zone, would you and why? submitted by I & J
No, I would not deploy with him. I have a few friends that are dual military and aside from doing their job, they say that they worry a lot on the battlefield about their loved one. It doesn't just get easier because you're with them or have them close by, it may actually be harder. With me being home, my husband knows that I'm living in a land with all of life's amenities at my fingertips, I have family that could come and be with me if I ever needed anything and that for the most part, I'm safe. And even if I wanted to go with him, I'm not sure he would approve because I'm a big sensitive baby under my front, as well as someone that gets super stressed easily. I'm not sure that would make a good candidate for a deployment.

3. Have you ever done anything (intentionally or unintentionally) to embarrass your spouse/significant other in front of his military cohorts? submitted by Marrying the Navy
I remember the first time I busted out my husband's first name in front of his Joes that had no clue what his name was beyond his rank and initial of his last name (they usually shorten our last name to a letter, like Sgt J ... you get the idea). It went dead quiet and he gave me the "look" and I knew I had said something I shouldn't have. But for the most part, I do enough embarrassing to myself for the both of us.

Another one worth mentioning is in the pre-kidlet days when my bestie, Sarah, and I would get tipsy and our husbands were around (they didn't work together) and we would bust funny and embarrassing stories on them. They used to get so mad at us for telling their stories out loud to each other. Of course, we found their embarrassing stories hilarious! Ah, so many good memories with the two of them!

4. What is your most irrational fear? submitted by Eights on the Move
My most irrational fear used to be trains, but after riding several on our trip to and from Chicago and around Chicago, so I would say I have conquered that. My next one is being on a ship, in the middle of an open ocean.

5. If you could live in one kind of climate for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? submitted by Many Waters
Fall is my absolute favorite, but I hate the rain that fall brings. The same goes for spring. I LOVE spring, but hate the rain. I think my absolute favorite weather has to be when summer creeps into fall. Where you can still wear shorts and flip flops, but you might have to grab a light sweater while sitting outside at night. And there's no humidity. It's my favorite and I could definitely live in weather like that year round. Okay, with the occasional day of rain.

My sister is afraid of being in the middle of the ocean too! And whales. Come to think of it, whales might contribute to her fear of the ocean...

I have to admit I am more nervous about being in a ship in the middle of the ocean, than in an airplane above the ocean!!!
