Yeah, yeah - I'm jumping on board this train that has already left the station. For new followers, here's a chance to get to know me a little bit better. Here are the first 25 facts about me.
1. I have an unreal addiction to Facebook and Twitter. I always feel out of the loop if I'm off Twitter for too long. Also, a lot of my conversations with people happen via Twitter or Facebook, family included.
2. I seriously have an abnormal phobia of talking on the phone. It freaks me out. I have this overwhelming feeling that I'll have vomit of the mouth and sound like an idiot. Even ordering a pizza freaks me out. This is why most of my conversations happen via Twitter or Facebook.
3. I've made some of the best friends via social groups that started on the internet.
4. I never was that girl in high school that had a best friend. I felt that, while I loved my friends, no one "got me". This lead to a lot of friends, but never one that I put 100% of myself into.
5. I met my first best friend, Sarah, in late-2006 while our husbands were stationed at Fort Campbell do to a Myspace group. I feel we're kindred spirits and I cannot imagine my life, now or in the future, without her. She has always been someone that I know I could turn to without fear of judgment, questions, or criticism. I know that she loves me and gets me 100 percent!
6. I'm addicted to ABC Family shows : Secret Life of an American Teenager, Stick It, Pretty Little Liars, and Greek (which is now over, boo!).
7. I also have an unreal addiction for trashy reality shows : Real Housewives of Orange County/New York/New Jersey, Bad Girls Club, 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom 1 & 2, and Jersey Shore.
8. Having a DVR makes watching all these shows possible. And is the reason I look forward to my kid going to bed every night at 7p :)
9. My favorite food, that I could eat every day of the week (and I've been known to in previous deployments), is pizza. I love pizza. The best pizza I have ever had in my life is in Clarksville, Tennessee at Michael's Pizza. The sauce is paired perfectly with a sweet crust. Every time I visit my family, I eat there for 25-40% of my meals. My favorite combo is pepperoni and sausage. I highly suggest if you get stationed at Fort Campbell, or live in Clarksville already, that you try them.
10. I was born in the South and lived and visited different states for approximately 22 years of my 25 years of life, but I cannot express to you how much visiting somewhere up north makes me feel at home. A serious peacefulness happens, and while New York may get a lot of snow, I couldn't be happier about our move from Louisiana.
11. About 6 or 7 months ago, I told my husband I felt a pull to Chicago, so before he deployed, we took a family trip for Babe's 3rd birthday and my 25th birthday.
12. I cannot tell you how much I fell in love with the possibility of city life. I wanted it all. From riding the public transit system, to walking at the Chicagoan pace, the fact that there is a Walgreens, Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks on just about every corner. I'm currently working on my husband to move there for two or so years after he retires and our kid is out of school. So far, he's on board! Otherwise, I'm going to commute, damnit!
13. I hate how big my boobs are. I feel frustrated that my bras cost more and that I usually have to wait until I go to visit my mom to shop at a store that actually carries my size. I hate trying to find a swimsuit that covers all of my boobs and not just my nipples and is still supportive without giving me a uni-boob. I have seriously, seriously considered breast reduction surgery for these reasons, along with the back pain that I feel BUT I don't want to deal with the scars - so, I just deal.
14. My parents were married for 25&1/2 years and then they divorced. It's something that has deeply impacted my adult life and it's something that I still deal with - a year & half later. I used to feel so smug knowing that my parents were still together and I wasn't another statistic in the 'divorced parents' category.
15. The two very best things that came out of my parents' divorce was the re-examination of what I was doing in my own marriage to hinder it instead of letting it grow and a closeness unlike any other that I've never experienced with my mother and siblings.
16. My dad remarried in November 2010 and essentially has a brand new life with his new wife and her son, who is approximately 15 years younger than me. He seems happy, and while that makes me happy for him, it also makes me extremely sad. Especially when I go "home" to visit family and he's not there.
17. Not dealing with issues stated in #14 and 16, I gained 22 pounds in a very short matter of time. I have since lost 21.4 of those pounds and am working on an additional 10.6!
18. I love all types of music. Some of my favorite artists/bands are : Matchbox Twenty, Breaking Benjamin, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Shinedown, Lady Antebellum, Eminem, Mumford & Sons, Red Hot Chile Peppers, Taylor Swift, Three Days Grace, Third Day, and Taylor Swift.
19. My absolute favorite of all those is Garth Brooks.
20. I don't have a favorite actress or actor, but I have a serious love for Sandra Bullock, Bruce Willis, Tom Hanks, and Meg Ryan movies.
21. A little under 7&1/2 years ago, all I knew about football was that there was a quarterback. Now, I can pretty much name most positions, calls, and I get super pumped come the end of August, beginning of September.
22. Seven and half years ago, my husband introduced to University of Michigan and their football program, and now I'm a diehard fan. I hope to one day to attend school there, either for my BSN or MSN and proudly rock the 'alumni' license plate.
23. It takes me forever, and I do mean forever, to fall asleep. The room has to be absolutely pitch dark (now I wear a sleeping mask) and quiet. Since my dog snores and keeps me from sleeping, I recently kicked him out and make him go downstairs and sleep. This has helped me fall asleep faster and stay asleep. Yeah, I'm pretty sure Diesel is also happy to not get woken up by me throwing a pillow at him while sleeping too. I guess it's a win-win situation.
24. This year, I'm really concentrating on my patience and temper. I have a short temper and a low level of tolerance (aka, I stress), two very undesirable traits that I cannot stand about myself but have inherited. I don't want my kid to remember me as a mom that yelled or a mom that wasn't fun because she got stressed out way too easily. I pray about these two things more than anything else.
25. I love to read and it's something that I hope I instill in our son, as my husband is not a huge reader. My favorite authors are Jane Green and Jodi Picoult and I LOVE finding a book that I haven't read by them at the library. Also, I love to check out books which is probably a reason why I more than likely will never own an e-book reader. Plus, library = free books!

Once again, it is uncanny how similar we are. I have the same boob-issue that you do. It's extremely frustrating. If you're willing to spend a little dough, though, I finally found a great bathing suit through Athleta: http://www.athleta.com/?tid=atgotb1&kwid=1&ap=7&sem=true&creative=6558482124&adid=nguyrgn&mkwid=695Mn4GZ
And I LOVED the show Greek. I am sad that it's over. And I am pretty my husband has the same phone-phobia you do. It must be going around. :)
I'm the same way with the phone! I order my pizzas online to avoid it. I called once and the guy talked so fast that I got really flustered and just hung up.
I hate talking to people on the phone. I always say the wrong things or I end up talking WAY too much and end up using UM alot lol. I try to avoid it as much as possilbe, thank god for twitter :)
My parents have been married for 29 years & even though they're still together and there's love there I just don't think they're 'in love' with eachother anymore. It's sad to watch but deep down inside I still like saying they're still together after that long.
I used to love going to bed with everything pitch black & quiet, sadly I had to get used to falling asleep with a computer light on and the tv because the hubs stays up way later than I do & I hate it.
Finally...you're not alone in having a short tempter and low level of tolerance. The hubs is always saying how I'm a ticking time bomb, it's really sad actually, I dont want to be 'that' person. Gotta work on that asap.
...another awesome blog!!
Your mom........
I love her. That name rocks.
I know a lot of these things about you. Make your next round of facts a bunch of secrets. Or don't, you chicken!
Also, we bought a nook and it's awesome. Sometimes it's great to have so many books be portable. Plus I can read it when I walk around the golf course. I like that.
Please go to the University of Michigan - we can hang out! My hubs should be starting there in Fall of 2012 and I can't wait.
Twitter, Facebook, Football & reality shows, the reasons you're my fav! =D I love love love Chicago! I lived there for a brief time and often wish I didn't leave! So I too am on a mission to make the BF/Fiance let us move there!
Lets be neighbors =D
