Seeing as I really do not know anyone here and the people that read this really don't know where I live, I can now bring back the neighbor posts! Are you excited? I've had a little time to "observe" my neighbors since I had to take off school this semester due to us moving from the southern region of the US to the northern region.
I have this neighbor that is really incredibly lazy. I'll call her Beth because there once was a lady that I didn't like named Beth and this lady most certainly looks like Beth.
So, let me tell you about Beth. Beth was all hot to trot when it came to getting out her snow blower and blowing the snow when we got less than an inch. I swear, she was out there every single day, approximately every couple of hours. I now know why, because her household goods had yet to arrive and she had nothing else to do with her time. Well, her belongings arrived and she promptly stored them in her garage - where they've been going on three weeks. Because of this, her cars are now sitting out in her driveway full time. That's not really big deal, except we get a lot of snow (a couple of inches usually every night) and Beth likes to continually drive her vehicles without shoveling or using her snow blower to remove snow. So, all that means that she has a major build up of ice where she constantly is driving over the same spots.
This is not what makes her lazy.
Well, about a week ago Beth finally realized that she had yet to plow her driveway for some time, so she goes out there and attempts to use her snow blower to chip away at the sheet of ice her driveway has essentially become. After about an hour and breaking her snow blower, Beth gives up.
This is not what makes her lazy.
On Sunday, we got about 8-10 inches of snow overnight. My husband started shoveling our driveway, while I tended to the kidlet inside. The neighbor that lives in the attached house next to Beth goes out and starts shoveling her driveway. I told the husband that I think this neighbor's husband was gone, so maybe he could offer to help her when he was finished. Instead of waiting, he went over to help her. That's when Beth came out to use her new snow blower after breaking her other one. Beth promptly used her snow blower on her driveway while my husband and the other neighbor worked together to clear her driveway. Beth finished her driveway and instead of seeing if our fellow neighbor needed help, she put her snow blower away.
This is not what makes her lazy.
At this point, I was annoyed. I have seen Beth and our fellow neighbor chat on several occasions and even them leaving from one another's homes ... so I know they know each other. Beth never offered to help her. I had noticed that this neighbor's husband was gone, so I know Beth had to have too. Beth never leaves her house.
This is not what makes her lazy.
So, after finishing her own driveway, Beth decides to grab her shovel and clean off her walkway and front porch (something that we're supposed to also remove snow from). After about two shovels full, Beth goes into her house and out comes her daughter. Her daughter then proceeds to take over shoveling duties while Beth is apparently exhausted from walking up and down her driveway approximately five or six times and sits on her butt while telling her daughter how to properly shovel snow. Beth has shown me that she's basically lazy at this point.
But this is not what makes her lazy.
Today, while I was out shoveling the 4-5 inches of snow that we got last night and this morning, Beth comes out and gets in her truck. As I'm shoveling, she's just sitting in her truck watching me. Creeper. Well, then Beth starts using her windshield wiper fluid to de-ice her windshield. She continues to do this for FIVE minutes. FINALLY, she opens her door, stands up and reaches over to finally scrap her windshield clean. I was wondering why she didn't just get out of her truck and scrap her windshield prior to the five minutes of trying to use her wiper fluid? And then I noticed it, at almost 3pm in the afternoon Beth has emerged to fall right into the "Army wife generalization" that a lot of people have for us - she was in her kissy lip pajama bottoms, attempting to defrost her window to go run errands. This is what makes her lazy. So now I know that Beth gets exhausted from a five minute walk behind a self-propelling machine, so much so, that she cannot offer a fellow military spouse some help - while watching my husband and said spouse work together to shovel and dictating orders to her daughter and because at 3 in the afternoon, she cannot dress herself enough to go run errands and riles on gallons of windshield wiper fluid to defrost her windshield.
