A bit has happened since I last posted! I'm going to break it down with the numbers game.
1. If you love your in-laws and cherish your relationship with them, under no circumstances live in the same vicinity with them for more than a week or so. I'm not sure how much time it will take to repair our relationship, my three weeks was way to much time to be in the same space as my mother in-law. I love her dearly and wish that I could rewind time and take into consideration the stress that she was under and I would hope that she wishes she could do the same for me. However, the good thing that came out of this was hearing my husband say something on my behalf when I "wasn't around" (I was upstairs in my room, pouting). He stuck up for me and told me that even though he could both see our wrongdoings, that it wasn't just me being overly sensitive to everything going on, some of the tension was half her fault. I'm grateful for that.
The only people that can really put up with you for that long are your own family members. There's nothing like telling one of them to "shut up" and knowing that they'll still love you. You are of blood, they are pretty much obligated to do so. {Read that mom for when I come to visit for a month ;)}
2. The unpacking of my house went smoothly. I think because of the above mentioned, I felt the need to continually unpack and put things away. It helped, because pretty much everything is in it's rightful space. Everything except pictures. I have no idea where I want to put stuff up on the walls yet, so for now, pictures and frames are tucked away in a closet.
3. I love, love my house. I went from living in this :
To this! :
I love, love my new house! Everyone has told us over and over again how much we were going to hate having stairs in our home, but honestly, they're not a big deal. For the most part, we stay downstairs and only venture upstairs to clean, shower and go to sleep.
3. I currently live 30 miles from Canada! How cool is that, eh? I'm so excited to go and currently I'm working on all three of us getting passports to travel there later this year.
4. Instead of waiting a year to reapply to school, I immediately found a college here that supports my college aspirations. I'm currently waiting on my other three colleges to send them transcripts (hello, being a MilSpouse!) to see if I'm accepted. I'm trying to accomplish everything now before my vacation to mom's house.
5. I picked up a new winter sport : shoveling snow. My husband doesn't understand why I want to get out there and shovel, but hello! it burns approximately 350 calories per half hour! Cha-ching!
6. New York is beautiful. Every single time my husband and I drove up to Michigan, I always felt this "at home" feeling. It's not something I can describe, but it's the only place I have ever truly thought about putting roots down and living out our life. Well, I got that same feeling when we moved here. I fall more in love with New York and the North every day. I wake up every day thanking God that we were blessed to move here. We love it. Granted, my husband who grew up on Lake Michigan feels at home with us now living super close to Lake Ontario - I also feel like I'm home. I think my heart has always been destined to be a Yankee. Although they drive like effin' maniacs!
Yeah, that's all I can think of right now. I feel like my life is finally back in order from the upheaval that I felt when December rolled around. The chaos really helped to pass the time, but I like things a little more causal.

Yay! Your new house is amazing! I am glad that you are happy. I do however hope that you and your mother in-law work things out.
Yay, I'm glad your back...you've totally been missed {by those of us who stuck around}!
Dude, how freaking magazine cute is your new house!? I love it & it's color. We have a 2 story house & I like it. The only bad thing is that the 1st floor is always colder than the 2nd so our A/C is constantly on in the summer (hello sky high electric bill). I'm so happy that you finally live somewhere where you're comfortable & that doesnt consider it's McDonald's gourmet food, lol.
Your house is so cute, I love the color!
great house! I lose a few followers every time I go MIA for a while... (oh well... not like I'm a big player in the bloggy world anyway!) You're still amazing!
That's awesome and super-exciting! New houses are always fun and it sounds like you've made it into a home too! Kudos!
I seriously need to pick up on your organizational habits which is why I *cough*stalk*cough* (it won't let me do strikeout!) I..umm..mean..check out your blog every so often! I'm happy to see you are enjoying your life in New York since you did not particularly care for living in Louisiana(neither did my mom!). Hope all is well! <3
wow, congratulations its a great house, this my first visit here and also following
Your new house is gorgeous! Plus it looks like it has more room to avoid your in-laws when they visit.
