Today is Day 3 : Your idea of the perfect first date.
I really don't have an exact idea of a perfect first date. Perhaps a date that you really, really don't want to end that includes really great conversation, laughs and just general good butterflies. And perhaps a dollar from something that they paid for kept for almost 7 years ...
I will tell you about a not-so perfect first date that really happened. I know that's not what this post is really about, but it gives me something actually write.
My parents wouldn't let me date-date until I was 16. Let's just say the boys weren't knocking down my door, so it really didn't bother me that they wouldn't allow me to date until I was 16. I have since "grown into my own" face/body. Those damn awkward years ... My mom also told me I wasn't allowed to shave my legs until I was 13, but there was no way I was going to wait that long with hairy legs. I'm pretty sure it was her attempt to not have anyone date me. So, I started shaving my legs around 10ish after I hurt my leg in gym class and the coach was afraid to touch my leg due to the hairiness. I'm just thankful it was blonde. Wow, way to get off subject. And as you can see, I'm not bitter about those years at all.
SO, back to my first date ever story. Looking back on it now, I should have totally seen this date as precursor of what would come in the following months I spent actually dating him.
My friend and I went on a double-date with her boyfriend and his friend. I had met his friend a time or two before and thought he was cute {again looking back on it, WTF was I thinking? Ugh.} Apparently this guy was really nervous. It had been months since his last relationship - or hell, date for that matter - and I was just so smoking hot that you know, he was nervous. He wouldn't eat anything at dinner because his stomach was in knots. His friend finally got him to take a bite of pizza, but that was it. He barely touched his water. Whatever, I got a free meal out of it! So, my friend and I excused ourselves to the ladies room while they paid for dinner and we agreed to meet them outside. As we walk outside, he's in front of the car, doubled-over dry heaving. Ah, yes, how mother effin' romantic. I was concerned and asked him if he was sick or coming down with something, but he just shook his head. Finally we got in the car, to which he promptly opened the door and threw up a little. AWESOME.
I didn't talk to him for a month after that and then for several months after that it was communication strictly by phone and email for a while. He explained to me in the following weeks it was because he was super nervous. Which, I totally began to understand because he was the type of person that didn't do things outside his comfort zone, because he liked being in control of predictable situations. Makes sense now, but at that moment, not so much.
Probably one of the worst first dates ever in my extremely short list of first dates.

Holy moly that is one awful date! Poor fella, just couldnt stand looking at your radiance.
hahah that is so funny. Poor guy. It's kinda cute seeing them that vulnerable. I'm pretty sure that was his worst date too.
That is pretty funny. Can't imagine being that nervous. My worst first date was a "blind" date with a Mormon guy who I already knew and my roommate who had set us up planned the whole date and bought us tickets for "Boogie Nights." Halfway through the movie my date was sitting there with his eyes covered because he "didn't want to see Marky Mark's junk." Needless to say we left and he ended up asking for the money back.
I know I already commented but I got this and wanted to pass it on to you. http://megandubyuh.blogspot.com/2010/09/one-lovely-blog-award.html
Oy. Horrible! You know, when I signed up for online dating, I thought I'd have some bad stories under my belt, but so far I've been spared. Is it sick that I'm kind of disappointed about that?
Oh my. That's pretty bad, haha. Poor guy!
eeek that sounds horrible/ but kinda cute? in a dorky kind of way? let's just hope that he's over his nervousness for the sake of all the single ladies out there...
